Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra performs Feb. 9

Journey through the seasons of the year with the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra as they demonstrate Vivaldi’s genius in depicting the myriad sounds of nature in this well-known masterpiece. Experience how Vivaldi used poetic verse as inspiration. Each movement (season) will be preceded by an informal lecture/demonstration and then performed in its entirety.

The Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Stephen Squires, is a fully professional chamber orchestra that performs regularly as part of the Mendelssohn concert season.

Rachel Handlin is the featured violin soloist. Bruna Holt will read a Vivaldi sonnet in Italian preceding each movement.

The event will be at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, at Court Street United Methodist Church in Rockford. Tickets—$15 for adults and $10 for students—are available by calling 964-9713.
