Mendelssohn opens with ‘Cellobration’

The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center 120th Anniversary Season opens with the finest cellists from the area performing solo and choir cello repertoire ranging from Bach to the Beatles in its “Cellobration” concert at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17.

The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center has been host to such notable artists as Arthur Rubinstein, Isaac Stern, the Vienna Boys Choir and Dave Brubeck. Thousands of Rockford-area musicians have taken the stage each year as members of the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra, the Mendelssohn Chorale and the Youth Choirs of the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center.
