Mendelssohn presents Suor Angelica, Secret of Susanna, Jazz Legends


Mendelssohn Club will present Suor Angelica by Puccini and The Secret of Susanna by Wolf-Ferarri at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 in the Music Building at NIU, DeKalb. There is no charge for this performance.

The same selections will be performed at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20 at First Presbyterian Church in Freeport. This performance is sponsored by the Freeport Art Museum. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 museum members and students.

Mendelssohn will present its Second Annual Jazz Legends of Rockford from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27 at Tebala Shrine Temple, 7910 Newburg Road. This event is in collaboration with WNIJ, Charlotte’s Web and the Rockford Jazz Society. Featured instruments will be accordion, piano, bass, drums, guitar, banjo, trumpet, trombone, vibraphone, clarinet and vocals. John Hill, WNIJ Jazz host, will emcee.

Tickets are $10, available at the Mendelssohn Club or at the door. These are not a part of season tickets. The temple is handicap-accessible.
