Men’s Abuse Intervention/Anger Management Workshops in Belvidere

Family Counseling Services will be offering Men’s Abuse Intervention/Anger Management Workshops at the Belvidere Family YMCA beginning Wednesday, March 22. The first evening, the assessment team will meet with individuals for orientation and assessment. The first group session will be Wednesday, March 29, from 6-8 p.m. Participants can be referred by the courts, other social service providers as well as self-referred. The course meets the criteria for mandated anger management services for most of the county courts in northern Illinois.

The workshop is 12 two-hour sessions plus an assessment and exit interview. Participants must be 17 or older, and have no impairment from drug or alcohol usage or mental illness that would interfere with the workshop process. Cost for the workshop is $40 for assessment and $20 per group session.

Family Counseling Services, the winner of the 2005 Rockford Register Star Excelsior Award, has been providing counseling and family life education since 1877. The agency is an experienced provider of anger management workshops, having established them at the offices in Rockford in 1998. Trained therapists facilitate the anger management groups. Expansion of these services to Belvidere is made possible in part by a grant from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.

Men who are interested in participating in the Abuse Intervention/Anger Management Workshops at the Belvidere Family YMCA should call Family Counseling Services at (815) 962-5585 to sign up. Be sure to indicate you are interested in participating in the anger management group in Belvidere.
