n Legendary actor brings One Man, One Wife Show to Rockfords Jubilee Theatre Jan. 29-30
Hollywood screen legend, television actor, Broadway star, Las Vegas showman and consummate performer Mickey Rooney brings his One Man, One Wife Show to the Jubilee Theatre at the Clock Tower Resort for two nights (and four performances) on Thursday, Jan. 29 and Friday, Jan. 30.
Mickey Rooney received his first Academy Award nomination as best actor for Boys Town in 1939, two additional nominations, and was later given an honorary Oscar as the motion picture industrys highest acknowledgement of film legends. He has earned an Emmy nomination, and was highly acclaimed on Broadway in Sugar Babies.
This is one performer who truly has the numbers. Now in his mid-80s, he has been in more than 300 movies, hundreds of television productions, and has a career that spans more than six decades. Add to this his 25-plus-year marriage to Jan Chamberlin Rooney (who co-stars with him in the One Man, One Wife Show), and youve got one of the most legendary performers of all time.
A well-respected performer in her own right, Jan Chamberlin Rooneys career has included concerts, television, films, commercials, voice-overs, radio, international tours, Las Vegas concerts, and much more. This funny and sentimental show showcases her vocal prowess where she takes a star turn on her own, then teams up with Mickey for some timeless classics.
Jubilee Theatre Producer Don Grant Zellmer first worked with Mickey and Jan Rooney just two years ago, when he was their opening act.
When this opportunity to bring the Rooneys here presented itself, said Zellmer, I knew it was something we had to do. Its a great opportunity to be in a venue as intimate as ours and be almost one-on-one with true Hollywood royalty… not to mention theyre incredibly fun people to work with. Zellmer will perform as their opening act again at the Jubilee Theatre.
The One Man, One Wife Show starring Mickey Rooney and Jan Chamberlin Rooney plays Thursday and Friday, Jan. 29 and 30 only at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. each evening. Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $42 per person and $38 per person for the 9:30 p.m. show (prices include tax). This special event kicks off the second season of Jubilee Theatre, and next weekend will see the Chicago-area premiere of My WayA Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra, which plays weekends through May.
Hot Country Nights, the Jubilees past fall show, returns for a limited engagement for two weekends in January (16 through 25) and will then play each Sunday evening at 7 p.m. during My Way.
