Mid-Town District Association is sponsoring a special seminar on the architectural considerations and financial incentives now available to owners and developers of properties in the newly certified Seventh Street Commercial Historic District.
The seminar will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at Benson Stone, 1111 11th St. Mike Jackson, chief architect of the Preservation Services Division of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, will be the main presenter. He will use his years of experience in historic preservation to explain how both preservation and development incentives using Historic Tax Credits can be successfully integrated in building renovation projects in the Seventh Street Commercial Historic District.
Gary Anderson, a local architect noted for expertise in historic building restoration and a Mid-Town District board member, will share insights on how to proceed with this type of project. Mayor Larry Morrissey will add his greetings and comments on how Historic Tax Credits have influenced some of his familys development efforts in the urban center of Rockford.
