Midtown Marketplace presents ‘The Collection’

The Midtown Marketplace will host “The Collection,” a showing of the diverse artistic expressions of local artist David Zoberis, throughout the month of May in The “Living” Room at 203 Seventh St., Rockford. A preview party will be from 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, May 11.

Zoberis is a recent graduate of Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree of fine arts in watercolor painting. His newest style of using watercolor with an overlay of charcoal is truly unique.

He said: “The studio experience starts with an unusual visual conquest that changes my creative spirit. The dedication hands-on response to this event is an involved repeated cycle of drawing and painting. When the motion of making art starts, time seems to stop, and painting begins. My environment becomes the image that is under construction. The result is a quirky impression where light, color and paint are more personal than naive.”

“The Collection” will provide viewers with a vast array of David Zoberis’ artwork dating from 2000 to 2007. The Midtown Marketplace’s Gallery events, such as “The Collection,” are just one of several community-based events sponsored by the Total Health Awareness Team (the parent agency of the Midtown Marketplace). With growing community response, it is the agency’s hope that these gallery shows will become a regular monthly event in the “Living” Room at the Midtown Marketplace.
