Minglewood plans 4th annual Blackhawk Farms Music Festival
Minglewood Productions is pleased to announce the 4th annual Blackhawk Farms Music Festival, set for July 26 & 27 at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, 1553 Prairie Ave., South Beloit.
The Blackhawk Farms Music Fest features two nights of camping along with performances by 15 jam bands on two stages in a park-like atmosphere. Jam bands continue the legacy of music developed by the psychedelic music pioneers of the late 60s and are called such because they tend to go into long free-form jams. Much of the music at Blackhawk is original, with influences from jazz, funk, bluegrass and blues. Many musicians performing at this years festival list the Grateful Dead, Phish, Frank Zappa, Miles Davis and The Allman Brothers among their musical influences.
Stage performances are Friday, 4:20 p.m. to midnight and Saturday, noon to midnight. Those camping over will enjoy the spontaneous acoustic jams around the campfires after midnight. Vendors will be set up in the concert area featuring a unique array of handcrafted clothing, jewelry and imports. Plenty of great food including vegetarian dishes and drinks, $2 pints of Pioneer Microbrew beer will be available; however, attendees may also bring their own food and drinks into the concert area as well.
Featured performers are: The Seed Band, Halias, Speargrass, Guest Free, Space, Bockmans Euphio, Groovatron, Jack Straw, Rebeccas Statue, Oucho Sparks, Cornmeal, AJ Steil, Nakid Hed, RCB and Smokestack.
Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the gate and include both days of music and two nights of on-site camping in the vicinity of the concert area. Tickets are available at Minglewood, 321 N. Church St., Rockford, IL 61101. Kids 12 and under are admitted free.
