Miss Freeport Scholarship Pageant now open
The Miss Freeport Scholarship Pageant is now open to young women ages 17 through 24 who reside in Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll, Ogle and Winnebago counties. The purpose of the pageant is to award college scholarship money to young women who possess the desire to make a difference in their community.
The first informational meeting will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Martin Luther King Center in Freeport. The pageant will be at 7 p.m., April 7, at the Masonic Temple in Freeport.
Contestant benefits include:
l More than $3,500 in scholarships and prizes;
l Learn how to conduct yourself in an interview;
l Gain experience in public speaking;
l Perform your talent on stage;
l Increase community awareness for the platform of your choice.
The Miss Freeport Pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss Illinois and Miss America pageants.
The Miss America pageant system is the largest scholarship foundation for women in the world.
The Miss Freeport and Miss America pageant system celebrates young women of intelligence, character and talent, who possess the desire to make a difference in their community.
