Music and Worship Festival at New Zion
New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 604 Salter Ave., Rockford, will hold a Music and Worship Festival on Thursday and Friday, March 21 and 22, and Saturday, March 23. The festival will take place at 6 p.m. on the 21st and 22nd, and at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 23.
Special guest will be Dr. Margaret Pleasant Douroux, noted California-based minister of music, musician, music publisher and lecturer steeped in the tradition of the black church. Dr. Douroux has penned hundreds of compositions such as If It Had Not Been For the Lord On My Side, Give Me a Clean Heart, God Is Not Dead, Trees, One More Day and others. She was recently nominated for a Stellar Award for her CD, Already Done.
Also appearing will be V. Michael McKay from Houston, Texas, a Dove Award winner and composer of contemporary gospel hits such as The Potters House and I Put It All in His Hands. McKay is critically acclaimed and nationally known for his aggressive energy and physical approach or visible interpretation of gospel music.
