Unity Hospice of Western Illinois, LLC, will honor their volunteers with a luncheon Friday, April 28.
Volunteers are an essential part of the hospice team, and help patients and their family by comforting the patient by reading to them, doing errands, light housekeeping, meal preparations, by holding their hand or giving an extra hug. Volunteers may help in the office by answering the phones, filing or applying labels. Volunteering is a very rewarding experience.
During the month of April, Unity Hospice will have a display at the Rochelle Flagg Library. This display shows how volunteering enhances the patient and their family lives.
Unity Hospice provides end-of-life care to terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice addresses the needs of patients with a multi-disciplined approach, including the patient, family, physicians, nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains and trained volunteers that make up the caregiving team.
Unity Hospice offers volunteer organizations on a monthly basis.
