Standing in the Rainbow is set in Elmwood Springs, Mo., after the end of the World War II. The action is told through the eyes of 10-year-old Bobby Smith, who thinks Elmwood Springs is just about the best place in the whole world. Flaggs gentle story re-creates the beautiful simplicity of these years with a cast of unforgettable characters. The New Connections Book Club is a joint project of the North Suburban Library District and the Cherry Valley Library District. For more information or to request a copy of the book, phone the library at 633-4247, ext. 4, or 623-6266, ext. 4.
