New cookie kicks off Girl Scout Cookie sale!

On Jan. 4, you’d better start thinking about which Girl Scout cookie is your favorite. Is it the rich chocolate and mint flavor of Thin Mints, or the sweet caramel and coconut Caramel deLites? Do you hanker for the chocolate-wrapped, mouth-watering Peanut Butter Patties, or the crunchy, peanuty taste of Peanut Butter Sandwiches? Do you “watch” your weight by consuming the delicious and tangy Reduced Fat Lemon Pastry Cremes, or do you stick to tradition by buying boxes of buttery Shortbreads? Whatever your style, whatever your taste, whatever you’ve done in past years of Girl Scout Cookie buying—it’s about to change.

Introducing the new Girl Scout Cookie—Friendship Circles, which feature a rich, chocolate filling sandwiched between two crunchy vanilla cookies and embossed with the word “friend” in many lanaguages. However many boxes you buy this year, add a box of the new Friendship Circles—it will change the cookies you buy from now on.

Girl Scouts-Rock River Valley Council will take orders for their once-a-year cookie sale from Jan. 4-20, offering all of the above-mentioned treats. Cookies will be delivered from Feb. 8-24, but you have to get your order in now to enjoy the cookies on delivery day.

Cookies sell for $3 a box, with troops directly benefiting from the number of boxes they sell. The average troop profit last year was $570 with the average Girl Scout selling 105 boxes. Approximately 25 percent of the gross cookie revenue goes toward the cost of purchasing and marketing the cookies. Additional revenues are used to maintain the Girl Scout Camp Medill McCormick, programming for area girls, national study programs, and to train the more than 1,500 Girl Scout adult volunteers.

Support the Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program and help the girls in your community grow strong—and help yourself to some great-tasting cookies!
