New independent paralegal service offered in Rockford area

Amicus Curiae Paralegal Services offers residents an alternative to the high costs of legal fees. The owner, Tauhidah El Amin, will prepare any and all civil legal documents for a reasonable fee and thus allow you the opportunity to have your day in court, without the representation of an attorney. She gives no legal advice but will professionally prepare the proper documents.

Services include: Landlord/tenant actions, divorces (uncontested), bankruptcy (7 and 13) motions, guardianship papers—notary.

Ms. El Amin has 24 years’ experience as a paralegal. She has worked with numerous attorneys in the state of California and several here in the Rockford area. She grew up here and went to school in Rockford, graduating from West High School in 1960. In 1966, she moved to California, where she learned to be an independent paralegal. She is the mother of four grown children and grandmother of seven lovely grandchildren. Ms. El Amin returned to Rockford in March 1995. Her family ties are here, and she saw the need to help people get into court who couldn’t afford attorneys and didn’t qualify for legal clinics. She has served numerous clients from Chicago, Mt. Morris and even as far away as California, who continue to contact her for her services.

Ms. El Amin is presently making plans to enter NIU in the fall to obtain her law degree so she can further serve the community after completion of her degree.
