A new movie titled Luther will open in theaters Sept. 26. In Rockford, it will be shown at the Colonial Village Cinema. Luther is the riveting story of Martin Luther, the father of the Lutheran denomination and one of the most important figures in Western civilization. Just as Martin Luther stood firm for biblical truth and changed the world, the people at Trinity Lutheran Church are committed to Gods word and to making a difference in our community. The pastors and congregation of Trinity invite everyone to see the movie and then come visit Trinity. Worship is at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning with Sunday school for age 3 through fifth grade. Trinity will take several groups from their congregation to see this motion picture, including seniors and youth, the week of Sept. 26. Filmed on more than 100 sets in 20 locations in Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic, Luther is a fast-paced, suspense-filled drama with the renowned actors, majestic pageantry and moving musical score people expect of big screen epic movies. We are excited that the movie industry has chosen to tell this important story of the beginning of the Lutheran Church and the importance of Christianity in our world, said Pastor Dean Larsen, senior pastor at Trinity Lutheran, just in time for Reformation. Trinity will use Martin Luther and his teachings as theme for the worship service on Reformation Sunday, Oct. 26.
