New mental wellness program

GROW, a new program for people who desire mental wellness, is starting a recovery group in Rockford. Michael Hunter, field worker, will be working the program. Meetings will be from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. Mondays at Metro Christian Center, 607 Walnut St., at the corner of Kishwaukee and Walnut streets.

The program was started in April 1957 in Sydney, Australia, and has been active in New Zealand, Ireland, England, Canada, the U.S. and Mauritius. Meetings are currently being held in Rochelle, Freeport and Sycamore.

GROW’s program of personal growth promotes a caring and sharing community and is a 12-step program similar to Alcoholics Anonymous.

No membership fees or dues are charged. This is an all-volunteer program. Information: 218-5715 or 985-6307.
