Next Picture Show opens holiday show Nov. 4

It’s a Norman Rockwell evening in Dixon! From 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4, the “Holiday Art Show” opens to all at a public reception at The Next Picture Show, 113 W. First St., Dixon.

The main level of the nonprofit fine arts center will feature two of the area’s finest art educators and fine artists Debbie Thompson and Stuart Roddy. This show celebrates two dedicated art teachers who are madly in love with the creative process and happy to spread the word to young artists.

Thompson is the fifth and sixth grade art teacher at Reagan Middle School. Roddy is the art teacher at Morrison High School and also teaches art classes at the Woodlawn Art Academy in Sterling.

Viewing Roddy and Thompson’s artwork is like going on a hike in the woods. Both artists have a deep connection with the environment and express their individual vision through a variety of mediums.

Debbie displays her interpretation of the landscape through assemblage processes, oil and watercolor, whereas, Stuart will take you on his artistic journey using egg tempera on clay board, oil and pastel.
