Ninth Annual Fields Project Festival June 24

OREGON, Ill.—The Ninth Annual Fields Project begins June 16 when 13 artists from many parts of the country arrive in Oregon. The artists will meet their farm host families at the home of Betty Sue Melcher of Oregon, Saturday, June 16.

All 13 artists will display their work at the Fields Project Art Festival Sunday, June 24, at Mix Park, Oregon, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Art Show is free to the public and will include local artists, 16 sculptors, Ogle County musicians and authors, horse-drawn carriage rides, food and a tractor display.

Four of these artists will have as their canvas 5-10 acres of grassland on which to create visual art seen only from about 1,000 feet in the air. For plane ride reservations to view this unique form of art, call (815) 234-8684.

The first field art design in 2007 has been done by the art students of Rochelle High School as part of the Fields Project Student Project. The remaining four designs will be done the week of the Fields Project, June 16-24. Three artists from Chicago and one from Santa Fe, N.M., will complete the remaining four field art designs. All participating artists will be capturing scenes and impressions of Ogle County by painting, photographing, and making videos. They include artists from Illinois, Tennessee, Kansas, Los Angeles and Indiana.
