No Strings Attached performs Feb. 11

Surprise your Valentine this year with tickets to dinner and a live performance by award-winning a cappella group No Strings Attached.

The Rockford Area Illini Club (RAIC) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) Alumni Association present No Strings Attached Saturday, Feb. 11 at Rockford Country Club, 2500 Oxford St., Rockford. Performance starts at 7 p.m., with cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres and socializing starting at 6 p.m.

No Strings Attached, previously composed of 13 members, is one of UIUC’s newest a cappella groups. The group was formed in 1994, and won the Midwest Regional Championship of the National Competition of College A Cappella in 1997, going on to take second place in the national competition at Carnegie Hall.

Prior to the No Strings Attached performance, RAIC will recognize the creation of the Dean Coppernoll Scholarship, in recognition of a $1,000 gift to the club from RAIC members Dean and Sue Coppernoll of Mount Morris. The club will also announce the creation of an endowment fund.

Also prior to the performance, Paula Havlik, UIUC Alumni Association director for Club and Constituent Programs, will present a brief campus update.

Deadline to order a ticket to No Strings Attached is Friday, Feb. 3. Tickets are $19, and include food and the performance. A cash bar will be available. The event is open to the public. A portion of the proceeds will go to the RAIC scholarship fund. For more information, contact Laura Goodin at 815-637-1447 or
