Individual artist, advocate, student, teacher, event or businesscertainly you can think back over the past year and someone or something comes to mind as an outstanding arts experience or person. If youre reading this paper, you are connected to the arts in Rockford, no doubt.
New this year, were thrilled to announce that our favorite guys, Doug and Kevin at Engine Studios, are involved. They will be producing a phenomenal montage that will highlight each nominee, including pictures, words from the nominator and other cool stuff. When you nominate, we ask you to submit photos to use for this presentation. The Rockford Area Arts Councils (RAAC) Mayors Arts Awards are about celebrating the people who bring us a vibrant community.
I would like to remind you that an individual artist is not limited to visual artists. Our last two recipients were none other than those talented actors Rod MacDonald and Stephen Vrtol III.
It is always amazing to see how many incredible arts people and events we have in Rockford. The selection committee consists of past recipients and arts enthusiasts, and the decisions are never easy.
