BLOOMINGDALE—Dr. Karen Altay, a leading Chicago-area reproductive endocrinologist and one of the guiding forces for a new women’s product called Gyne-Glo, will speak at the Rockford Women’s Expo Nov. 5 at Rock Valley College. Dr. Altay will conduct a 45-minute seminar on Sex and Aging, starting at 3 p.m.

A well-respected professional and graduate from the University of Illinois-Chicago Medical School, Dr. Altay began private practice in 1985 after completing her residency and fellowship at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Her practice is based in Bloomingdale, a western suburb of Chicago. She has been married for 22 years to Dr. Paul Rosenberg, who is a partner in Female Healthcare Associates, one of the largest gynecological practices in the Chicago area.

“I’m looking forward to speaking on a topic that is often confusing to the public,” Dr. Altay said. “So often, the myths on sex and aging are false, so it is important to educate the public that getting older doesn’t mean the end of intimacy. My interest in health issues among women between the ages of 40 and 60 has been strong since I began my residency. With the many changes and developments, there are numerous ways now for women to handle the menopause years and enjoy the quality-of-life issues that confront them. This seminar is a chance for women to learn about some options they may not be aware of.”

Dr. Altay and her husband began producing Gyne-Glo in 2004. An all-natural topical lubricant, Gyne-Glo restores vaginal moisture and contains DHEA-S (dehydroepiandorsterone), a hormone produced by the body’s adrenal glands. DHEA-S is a natural substance that has been shown to improve sexual desire and overall quality of life. Gyne-Glo enhances libido and maintains vaginal health, and can be used daily or weekly. It is available for sale through the company’s Web site at

The Rockford Women’s Expo is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Seminars on a variety of health and lifestyle topics begin at 10:30 and continue throughout the day. Admission is $6 at the door.

Gyne-Glo is distributed by Clinic Healthcare Services, and free samples are available by calling 888-GYNEGLO. For more information, call (630) 893-0900, or visit the Web site at
