NWCC offers new program for older job seekers

The Northwest Community Center (NWCC) is proud to announce the LLEAP (Lifelong Learning, Earning, Achieving and Participating) Job Placement Program.

This program is designed to help mature adults (55 and older) living in Winnebago and Boone counties overcome the barriers preventing them from obtaining meaningful employment.

NWCC will be offering computer training, life/work-skills workshops, development of an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) and job placement. There has always been a gap between those people and communities who can make effective use of information technology and those who cannot. Now, more than ever, unequal adoption of technology excludes many from reaping the fruits of the economy.

We use the term “digital divide” to refer to this gap between those who can effectively use new information and communication tools, such as the Internet, and those who cannot. In a further effort to help bridge the digital divide, the NWCC will be offering use of its Computer Technology Center (CTC). Users will have access to the Internet, e-mail and many popular programs such as Microsoft Word.
