I think its safe to say the majority of the public is tired of seeing and hearing about the two biggest losers and disappointments in sports history. Im referring to Mike Tyson and O.J. Simpson. Unfortunately for us, both have been in the media spotlight recently.
Earlier this month, we, the sports fans of America, got to hear about Tyson and his continued problems with the law. This time, he was arrested on drug charges in Arizona. Is anyone really surprised? Is that news? More importantly, who cares?
If that wasnt bad enough, weve also had to endure the endless coverage concerning another sports criminal, Simpson. The gall and nerve of this guy to pitch a television special or book about if I did it, this is how, is beyond my comprehension. Why would anyone even give him the time of day when he suggested such a show? FOX did, and the show was produced and set to air around the holidays. The good news is, Rupert Murdoch and FOX agreed with the public outcry and pulled the plug on the show.
I cant determine who is more nefarious; one guy has served time in prison for crimes against women and now may be facing a return trip to the slammer, and the other guy should be there for the rest of his life. It would be a great service to the taxpayers to have them share a cell. I think they deserve one another. That would be justice.
I, along with many others, could happily go on with the rest of our lives without ever having to hear about either of these two again. If we could collectively ignore these goons, maybe then the mainstream media would get the message and quit giving them a stage to appear on. Without the attention, maybe they would wither up and go crawling back to the rat holes in which they belong. Lets hope!
