FREEPORTMeet Ethel and Norman Thayer, returning to their 44th summer on Golden Pond. He is nearly 80, failing memory, failing heart, and sharp-as-ever tart tongue. She is 10 years younger, and proves opposites attract.
Enter their divorced, middle-aged daughter, who brings her dentist fiancé and his teen-age son. Norman is eager to teach this grandchild what theyve longed for, taking his ward fishing and thrusting good books at him. But it is Norman who becomes the student. In the end, as the summer wanes, so does their brief idyll, and the aging couple, drawn even closer together, wonder if there will be another summer for them on Golden Pond.
