The next BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers course will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Registration deadline is Thursday, Nov. 30.
The fee for the class is $35 per person, which includes the cost of the required BLS for Healthcare Providers textbook.
BLS for Healthcare Providers is an 8-hour course designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device and oxygen. It also incorporates the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO).
The course is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a variety of settings. These health care providers may include, but are not limited to, physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, medical or nursing assistants and other allied health personnel. The course is also designed for anyone who is required to take a health care provider course for employment.
To register, call the OSF Saint Anthony staff development office at 395-5474 no later than Thursday, Nov. 30.
