Upward Bound is a federally-funded college preparatory program designed to assist low-income high school students in gaining the skills necessary to complete a bachelor’s degree. RVC Upward Bound serves 50 participants from Belvidere, Harlem and Jefferson high schools.

The program is divided into two major components: academic year and summer. During the academic year component, students participate in after-school tutoring and supplemental instructional sessions at each target high school. The program also enhances each student’s cultural, college preparation and social framework by offering a variety of Saturday activities. The summer component is divided into three phases totaling six weeks: High Adventure Teambuilding Retreat, Academic Coursework, and a College/Cultural Tour.
