Park District earns Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded to the Rockford Park District for the 20th year in the past 24 years. The Park District submits its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for review.

The GFOA “Certificate of Achievement” is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. An award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the individual department or agency designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning report. This year’s award is presented to Maria Forrest, assistant finance director, and her team.

In Illinois, there are more than 7,200 units of local government; however, only 221 (roughly 3 percent of all governments) were presented with this award.
