Park District offers fee assistance
The Rockford Park District believes that no youth should be denied access to learning an important ability such as swimming, or developing skills for a lifetime of enjoyment, due to their inability to pay. The Park Districts Fun For All Kids fee assistance program is for youth age 19 and younger who are Park District residents and whose family meets financial qualifications, which are similar to those for free and reduced price lunch programs at public schools. People with disabilities who meet the residency and income qualifications are also eligible for the program; the age restriction is waived.
Fee assistance is available for Rockford Park District programs that are open to the general public and require fees for individual registration and individual program participation, such as youth sports, summer camps and lesson programs. Fee assistance is offered at 80 percent, 50 percent and 25 percent subsidy levels, with a partial contribution from the head of household.
The fee assistance program is handled only at the Sinnissippi Park Office of the Park District, 1401 N. Second St., Rockford. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through February. Beginning in March, the office is also open from 8:30 a.m. until noon. For more information, call 987-8800; for TTY service, 963-DEAF.
