Park District preps for indoor sports season

Now that the air has begun to get a little cooler, it’s time to start thinking about fall and winter indoor sports.

The Rockford Park District will once again offer indoor soccer and volleyball. Both activities will be at the Wedgbury Indoor Sports Center in Loves Park.

Recreational and competitive soccer leagues will be available for adults and youth. The 10-game fall session begins Oct. 16. Fee for individuals is $75, if you reside within the Park District. Fee for individuals who are non-Park District residents is $85. Team fee is $850. Any adult team registering and paying for fall and winter sessions prior to Oct. 16 will receive a $50 discount.

Interested teams or individuals may register by mail, fax (with credit card) or in person at Park District Customer Service, 401 S. Main St., Rockford, or at the Indoor Sports Center, 8800 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park.

Indoor volleyball will be geared for youth from kindergarten through fifth grade. The sessions will focus on basic skills, along with game play. The programs will take place in a fun, positive environment, with the equipment suited to the younger students.

For more information about either the soccer or the volleyball sessions, including registration and fees, readers are encouraged to call the Park District Customer Service line at 885-1135.
