Park District receives grant for upgrades

The Rockford Park District has received a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation for lighting upgrades at its Riverview Ice House and Indoor Sports Center.

The grant is for $4,709 of an estimated cost of $8,022 project to replace electronic ballasts and fluorescent bulbs in existing fixtures to reduce energy usage and cost.

Judy Roby, administrative assistant for the Capital Planning and Management Team, said this is the third grant received by the Rockford Park District from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation.

The District has upgraded lighting at the Atwood Lodge and at the four aquatic facilities—Alpine, Harkins, and Sand Park pools and Levings Beach. The Riverfront Museum Park has also received a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation.
