Park District tabs Tim Dimke as next executive director

High-ranking Rockford Park District officials confirmed July 25 that Interim Rockford Park District Executive Director Tim Dimke, 51, was to be named the Park District’s permanent director.

The announcement was to be made at a press conference following a Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners special meeting, set for 4:45 p.m., July 25. The Rock River Times was unable to attend the press conference due to deadline constraints.

Dimke has worked for the Park District his entire life, beginning in 1972 as a seasonal employee while a 17-year-old Rockford Auburn High School student. Prior to being named interim director, Dimke served as the Park District’s chief operating officer.

Dimke started his tenure with the Park District the same year as former Park District Executive Director Webbs Norman, who stepped down June 1.

“We grew up together,” Norman said about Dimke in a June 14-20, 2006, article. “We worked as a team. I feel comfortable in stepping down.”
