Pascere Concert to benefit Rockford Rescue Mission

Recently, President Bush encouraged all American citizens to help our local communities. In Rockford, local musicians have responded to our president’s request by performing at the upcoming Pascere Concert to raise food donations for the Rockford Rescue Mission. There is no money for admission—just a food donation of 5 lbs., which will be collected at the door. The Pascere Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Mendelssohn Club, 415 N. Church St.

The concert program begins with the Haydn Trumpet Concerto, performed by Kevin Davis (principal trumpet, Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra) and Patricia Jeske (piano instructor, Rockford College Music Academy). Jeske will continue by performing selections from the standard piano repertoire, and will be followed by Eric Schroeder (guitar instructor, Rockford College Music Academy), who will perform from the classical guitar repertoire. After a brief intermission, the locally renowned vocalist and pianist Jodi Beach will perform a variety of jazz compositions with the Jodi Beach Trio.

The concert offers a well-balanced diet of music for the listener, and with your participation, a well-balanced diet of food for the less fortunate. For more information, call Kevin Davis at 397-6416.
