Peace/Pot luck holiday party at Irish Rose

“The Peace Pot Luck/Holiday Party” will be celebrated at next week’s Coffee Talk, at 7:30 p.m., Monday, December 18 at the Irish Rose, 519 E. State Street.

The musical group Low Rent Collective from Chicago will ring in the Yuletide and help people celebrate the little successes of peace and justice this last year. The winner of the 2000 Peace Award will also be announced, and local peace activists will share their stories.

Stanley Campbell, who just returned from Colombia, will tell the group about visiting the village of Santo Domingo, where a massacre occurred on December 13, 1998. Mr. Campbell will talk about his trip and what he saw, but he will make a complete report in January.

People are invited to bring their favorite holiday treats to share, as well as one area of concern that the group will try to work on.

Coffee Talks are sponsored by Rockford Peace and Justice Action Committee and are presented every Monday night at 7:30 p.m. The coffee is provided. The discussions are free and open to everyone, and all are invited to participate. Coffee Talks are held on a variety of topics of general interest.

For more information, call Stanley Campbell at (815) 964-7111.
