Pec Playhouse auditions for A Walk in the Woods
Pec Playhouse Theatre announces open auditions for their upcoming stage production of A Walk in the Woods, the first of five shows to be offered in their 2001 theatre season. Auditions are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday evening, at 7 p.m., January 8 and 9 in the Pec Playhouse Theatre, 314 Main St., Pecatonica.
The play, a drama with humor written by Lee Blessing, centers around two superpower arms negotiators, a Russian and an American, who meet informally after long, frustrating hours at the bargaining table. Through their informal conversations, the seasoned Russian master and the newcomer American reach a deeper understanding of each others wisdom, and grow to be friends, despite the deep-seated mistrust and misconceptions which the elemental differences in their two systems of government will continue to exacerbate as long as the real power rests in the hands of those burdened by the bitterness of the past.
Roles are available only to two middle-aged or older men, with both being very strong leading roles. Sufficient acting experience is desired but not absolutely required. A Russian accent is also desired but not required.
Performances are scheduled for Feb. 16-18 and 23-25, and are being directed by returning Director Michael Dice.
