Pec Playhouse seeks 2004 applicants

Pec Playhouse Theatre, a non-profit theater organization established in 1991, is accepting applications for several design positions for its five productions of the 2004 season. Pec Playhouse Theatre is in Pecatonica, a small rural community about 20 miles west of Rockford, and about 70 miles west of Chicago’s suburbs. The venue is a converted space, previously used as warehouse storage for a now unused turn-of-the-century granary commonly found in rural Illinois. For the past several years, Pec Playhouse has entertained several thousand patrons annually with its four- or five-show seasons of comedies, dramas, musicals and holiday productions.

Applications are being accepted for the positions of artistic director, stage manager, technical director, set designer, and costumer for the following shows:

• Swing Fever, a high school comedy variation on Cinderella written by Esther E. Olson. Production dates: April 23-May 2, 2004. Application deadline: Jan. 3, 2004.

• Big—the Musical, written by John Weidman, Richard Maltby, Jr., and David Shire. Production dates: July 9-25, 2004. Application deadline: Jan. 31, 2004.

• The Trip to Bountiful, a poignant drama written by Horton Foote. Production dates: Sept. 17-Oct. 3, 2004. Application deadline: Jan. 31, 2004.

• Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus, a holiday favorite written by Andrew J. Fenady, based on the teleplay. Production dates: Nov. 19-Dec. 5, 2004. Application deadline: Jan. 31, 2004.

All performances are Fridays through Sundays each weekend. Some remuneration is available for the position of artistic director.
