Percy L. Manning, 1925-2003
Percy L. Manning of Loves Park passed away and joined the Lord Sunday, April 6, 2003 at the age of 77. He was born Dec. 8, 1925, the son of Wallace Manning and Beatrice Cook Manning. Percy served our country during World War II in the 11th Airborne division in the Pacific Theatre, and was awarded the Bronze Star for the Ryukus Campaign. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9759, serving as post commander and First All-State commander. He retired as a manager from Libby Oil & Chemical.
Survivors include wife, Lorraine; sons, David W. (Carol), Richard L. and L. Paul (Pam) Manning; and daughter Linda J. (Robert) Simpson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; half brother, Lee; half sister, Shirley; and dear cousin, Donald Moore. Percys life was a blessing to us all, family and friends, and will be greatly missed. May the Lord take care of him in heaven, and keep us strong in our time of loss.
