Perryville officially withdrawn

The Winnebago County Board officially withdrew plans for Perryville Road Thursday.

On Monday, Winnebago County Board Chairwoman Kris Cohn announced the county would not spend another cent on Perryville construction until legal and factual issues are resolved.

At the same time, Cohn said that if Roscoe Township doesn’t want the road extended, the road won’t be built.

Cohn said she recently learned the township created a roadblock in 1995 that would prevent the county from extending the road. Dismissing the county’s claims, Hawes said the officials were aware of plans.

Even though the county dropped plans now, opponents believe the battle isn’t over. “I’m not certain this was 100 percent,” Perryville fighter David Yeske said.
