Petunia City Quilters look for quilts with a story

The Petunia City Quilters met Monday, June 6 at the Loveland Community Building in Dixon. The program for the evening was presented by Paula Hoffman of The Clothesline Quilt Shop in Avon. Her presentation was titled, “Fat Quarter Quilts.”

Paula brought a wonderful variety of quilts all made from “fat quarters” of fabric. A “fat quarter” is a piece of fabric that measures 18 inches by 22 inches. Refreshments were served by Norma Hammelman, Carol Roller, and Barb Wells.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m., Monday, July 11, in the Loveland Community Building. Members and guests are asked to bring “Quilts with a Story” for the program. The Nine Patch Challenge projects are due and will be voted on. Prizes will be given for various categories. Members exchanged a yard of fabric last December and were challenged to make a project with that fabric and an old-fashioned, nine-patch block.

Guests are always welcome to attend meetings, a nominal fee of $3 is asked. The guild will be hosting a quilt show Oct. 7-8 at the Loveland Community Building. Raffle tickets are available from any member for a queen-size quilt from a pattern called “Amended Fences.”
