Pheasants Forever hosts Youth Shoot Aug. 11, 18

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at trap shooting, but you didn’t own a gun, or you weren’t even sure where to begin, the Winnebago County Chapter of Pheasants Forever can help. They are hosting their annual free Youth Shoot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, and again Saturday, Aug. 18.

Youth ages 10-17 and their parents are welcome to join the Winnebago County Chapter of Pheasants Forever at the Plug and Pellet Sportsman’s Club on Centerville Road in Rockford to take advantage of this free event. The chapter will provide guns, ammunition, safety equipment, shooting instruction and lunch.

They are also encouraging women and any first-time shooters of all ages to attend this event and learn more about the sport of trap shooting.

According to their Web site, Pheasants Forever is a national non-profit conservation organization founded in 1982. They are dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasant and other upland wildlife through habitat improvement that benefits farmers and wildlife alike.
