Plans for 8th annual Block 5 party announced

The 8th Annual Block 5 Party will take place Friday and Saturday, June 22 and 23 in the 500 block of East State Street in downtown Rockford. Though it usually takes place in September, the Block 5 Party has been moved to June and will be bigger and better than ever. All proceeds from the street festival are donated to the Northern Illinois HIV/AIDS Network (NIHAN).

New this year is an artists’ fair. In addition to two stages of music including live bands and DJs, great food and drink, Block 5 is hosting an art fair Saturday, June 23, from 2 to 8 p.m. All area artists are asked to display and sell their creations. Booth space is free, and artisans are asked to contribute 10 percent of their sales to NIHAN. All area artisans are asked to contact Izzy at The Artery, 961-1113, to reserve your spot in the art fair.

Advance tickets for the Block 5 Party are only $10 for both Friday and Saturday. Tickets purchased at the gate on the day of the show are $10 per day or $15 for both days. Advance tickets are available through all CentreEvents ticket outlets or by phone at (815) 968-5222. Advance tickets may also be purchased at the following Block 5 businesses: The Artery, Bacchus, Deli Italia, Digits, 5Spa, Irish Rose and The Office. For general Block 5 information, log on to or call (815) 961-1803. Featured performers on the Main Stage on Friday are: Higher Ground, The Snaggs w/Holland Zander and The Pimps; on Saturday, listen to Andrew Jacob Holm, Phoenix Fire, 420, Harmony Riley, The Seed Band and JGB featuring Jerry Garcia and band keyboardist Melvin Seals.
