Libby Clark and Debbie Orput, Co-Chairmen of the Burpee Museum’s upcoming fund-raising event, say, “This year’s party on July 29th will be a ‘Red Carpet’ Egg-stravaganza as guests will be greeted by Rockford Register Star Columnist Mark Bonne—our genial Master of Ceremonies.” They, along with a steering committee of more than 70 strong, have been working diligently since last November. Partying with Jane, Burpee’s celebrated dinosaur, the past two years has become a signature event on Rockford’s summer social calendar. Hundreds of guests dancing under the stars and dining on gourmet specialties adds up to a great time for all!!

Back by popular demand is the Pete Fleming Orchestra. The evening offers a variety of savory gourmet specialties prepared by Rockford’s finest culinary artists, a silent auction featuring an array of exquisite unusual items (Custom designed ladies’ pendant of fossilized ammonite set in gold enhanced with diamonds by Clodius & Co. Jewelers; four Premium CUB tickets, private cooking lessons with Rockford gourmet chefs, landscape planning and planting consultation, and wine tasting of fine wines from around the world.) Replicas of dinosaur eggs painted and sculpted by area artists (Nancy von Lugossy, Diana Garrett, Judy Moyer, Jim Julin, John Deill, Jane Hooker and Jan Pozzi) into exquisite one-of-a-kind works of art will also be included. For a modest donation, commemorative bottles of wines are available, a German Kabinett from the Nahe region and a French Cabernet Sauvignon from the Cotes De Prouilhe.

This year promises to be bigger and better than ever! A tent twice the size of last year’s model will be installed to accommodate the growing number of guests who will attend. Reservations are available at $75 each.

Sponsors of $1,000 or more will have an opportunity to attend a “Champagne Reception” on June 29, the evening of the GRAND OPENING of the exhibit, Jane: Diary of a Dinosaur, and receive a custom designed 3-D laser engraved crystal of Jane.
