Points West: Winneshiek Players presents The Odd Couple

FREEPORT—Winneshiek Players will stage the mega-popular comedy, Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple, with performances set for 7:30 p.m., Friday-Saturday, Feb. 9-10 and Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 15-17.

Join in the fun and misadventures of the two most mismatched roommates of all time: Felix Ungar and Oscar Madison.

Cast consists of the following:

Oscar, the beer-drinking, poker-playing, mess-making, recently divorced sports writer who wasn’t smart enough to know he didn’t need a roommate.

Felix, the sandwich-making, floor-cleaning, fastidious news writer whose marriage is ending and needs a place to stay, preferably not 12 floors up.

Murray, one of the poker buddies, a cop who knows how to keep the peace, or at least keep a piece of cake.

Speed, another poker buddy, as sarcastic as the day’s long (a nice cliché—who writes these things?).

Roy, also a poker buddy and Oscar’s accountant, who keeps close track of Oscar’s finances in the pot.

Vinnie, yet another poker buddy, who can’t fathom anyone’s marriage being in trouble. He knows what his marriage is: exactly what his wife tells him.

Cecily Pigeon, one of the “birds” Oscar met in the building—a brash, bawdy British babe.

Gwendolyn Pigeon, Cecily’s sister, divorced like Cecily and ready to paint the town red (or whatever color is available).
