Police seek info on two crimes

Rockford police need information on two unsolved criminal cases.

At approximately 3 a.m. on April 3, 2001, Officer Mark Sorensen’s squad car was hit by six bullets while he was parked in front of Alpine Park at 900 S. Alpine Road while writing a report and running radar.

The Rockford Police Department made a plea for information regarding this attack, but none of the information provided by phone calls has resulted in viable leads so far. Chief Jeff Nielsen again asks the public for help in solving this vicious attack on a police officer.

Crimestoppers offered a reward of $1,000 for information leading to the solving of this case. Additional reward money may be available.

The police also request information on the DeAngelo Williams kidnapping case. This individual was taken the weekend of April 21 and has not been heard from since then. Again, the department has tracked down many leads, but none has resulted in the locating of Mr. Williams.

The police department asks anyone with any information on either of these cases to call them at 987-5824.
