The Stephenson Soil and Water Conservation District and Highland Chapter of Pheasants Forever will host a workshop addressing the biology and reasoning for conducting prescribed burns on restored acreages of warm season prairie grasses. The workshop is for landowners and anyone interested in establishing and maintaining stands of warm season prairie grasses. Weather permitting a controlled prescribed burn field demonstration will follow the indoor portion of the workshop. Appropriate footwear, leather gloves and clothing (no synthetics) are recommended.
Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. at the Beltline Café, Freeport, Illinois, followed by the workshop. Reservations must be made to attend the workshop. The date is scheduled for Saturday, March 24. Registration for the workshop will be limited to the first 30 respondents. Cost for both breakfast and workshop is $12.
