URBANATuesday, Aug. 17 has been set as the date for the 2004 Field Day at University of Illinois Northwest Research Center (NWRC) at Monmouth. Tours of research plots will begin at 8 a.m. The last tour will depart at 9 a.m., and each tour will take about two hours to complete.
As part of the tour, Bob Hoeft from U of I Extension will discuss using soil micronutrient tests wisely. Dawn Nordby from U of I Department of Crop Sciences will talk about the timing of post-emergence weed control in soybeans. Emerson Nafziger from U of I Extension will present what he has found on chasing high corn and soybean yields.
Dean Malvick from U of I Extension will provide insights on the interactions between weather and crop diseases. Dave Feltes, Extension educator, will address the latest on soybean aphid management.
There will be 0.5 hours of Certified Crop Adviser credits for nutrient management, 1.5 hours for integrated pest management and 0.5 hours for crop management. Refreshments will be served. The NWRC is located approximately 1 mile north and 4 miles west of the intersection of highways 34 and 67 on the north side of Monmouth.
