Provide a tribute to a relative or friend

The Rockford Park District Foundation invites you to donate funds to provide a new tree or bench as a tribute to a relative or friend, or to commemorate a special occasion.

In doing so, you’ll also enhance the beauty of a Rockford Park District park, recreation path or facility, and provide a gift that will be enjoyed by many in years to come.

Kathy Scott, Memorial Program coordinator, said the emphasis is on providing benches and trees for golf courses and parks, such as Dahlquist Park, Sportscore I or II. More trees are always needed, and many parks can use benches for people to sit after walking or enjoying the activities around them.

Commemorative benches are made of durable recycled polyethylene with an attached plaque. Commemorative trees benefit both people and wildlife by offering beauty, shade and shelter for years. Trees may be requested at any time, but installation will take place twice annually, spring and fall. A commemorative tag is attached to the tree.

The mission of the Rockford Park District is to help people enjoy life. The Rockford Park District Foundation is a charitable organization that exists to accept donations on behalf of our parks, and supports the District in achieving its purpose.
