Parents and community members can comment on proposed Rockford Public School District 205 attendance zones for middle and high schools at a public forum at Auburn High School, 5110 Auburn St.
Maps outlining the attendance zones will be on display beginning at 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 14, when speakers may fill out sign-up cards. Each speaker will be called in the order in which they sign up, for as long as time permits.
The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. with Chief Operating Officer Tom Hoffman giving a 20-minute overview of the attendance zones, which are proposed to take effect at the start of the 2007-2008 school year. Public comment will begin after Hoffmans presentation and continue until 7:30 p.m. in the Auburn auditorium.
Rockford School Board members may be in attendance, but the forum is not a board meeting.
Maps of the proposed zones are on display at all middle and high schools, as well as in the lobby of the Administration Building, 201 S. Madison St., where the public can obtain forms to make written comments. Parents and community members also may offer input online at rps205.com.
