State Rep. Chuck Jefferson, D-Rockford, will hold the first meeting of his Public Safety Advisory Committee Meeting from 5 to 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, at the E.J. Zeke Giorgi Center, 200 S. Wyman St., Rockford.
The safety of our citizens is the key to our growth as a community, Jefferson said. The violence that has plagued our streets must be stopped.
Jefferson has citizen advisory committees on a number of issues, including education, seniors, public safety, transportation and veterans affairs. The advisory committees allow citizens to get involved in the legislative process and provide Jefferson with feedback on issues facing the General Assembly that affect the Rockford area.
We must work together with officials from our police and fire departments as well as community leaders, said Jefferson. I want to get the most diverse viewpoints and ideas that I possibly can. Everyone will benefit when we come together to make our city a safer place.
If you are interested in joining either the Public Safety Committee or any of the other advisory committees, call Jeffersons constituent service office at (815) 987-74333. Jefferson represents the 67th District.
