Quilting bee, exhibit Aug. 4-5 in Freeport

FREEPORT—Ladies dressed in their finest period attire will hold a quilting bee in the front parlor in one of Freeport’s oldest homes—the Taylor Home—from noon to 4 p.m., Aug. 4-5.

These ladies invite the public to help with their quilting project and share in the gossip of the day. Children can even create their own quilt block to take home.

Next door to the Taylor Home is the museum’s carriage house, which will show a temporary exhibit of early to late 19th-century quilts and fancy works. This is a “don’t miss” event for the quilting and sewing enthusiast in the family.

The event will be at the Stephenson County Historical Society and Museum at 1440 S. Carroll Ave. Admission is free.
