Race an outhouse, march in a parade in Durand

DURAND—Registrations are being accepted for the Durand “Outhouse Races” on the town square and parade, to be Sunday, July 3, in conjunction with the town’s three-day Fourth of July festival that includes go-kart races. There is no entry fee for either event.

In the outhouse race, four contestants push/pull the outhouse while a fifth person relaxes inside. Groups can be of mixed gender and must be at least 14 years of age. Costumes are encouraged. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Durand will provide the outhouse to any teams that wish to race. Outhouse races begin at approximately 4 p.m.

Interested musicians, equestrians, groups, floats, cars, and other vehicles are invited to participate in the town’s parade. The parade will step off at 1:30 p.m. Ribbons and prize money will be awarded for the best in each class.
